Automatic Pouch Expansion

Small things can lead to big improvements in productivity.

Manually opening bags/pouches and then expanding the pleat in a standup pouch can be a pain and done improperly, or inconsistently.

Many different ways of perfecting the practice of prodding or poking at the pleat of a pouch have been tried. Upside down hammer handles, screwdriver handles, and fingers to name a few.

BagPopper will provide consistent and properly expanded pouches. Improving both appearance quality and productivity and sales.

Bag/Pouch Collapses

Trouble delivering all your standup bags/pouches to a retailer without collapses? Collapses are a problem for many processors. Which is frustrating since so much investment was made in producing beautiful flower and then it not get purchased because of poor appearance.

Collapsing of bags/pouches after packaging and sealing can occur at any number of points along the way from the processor the retail shelf. Often times the reason for collapses is that the bag/pouch is not fully expanded. Partial expansion is the main culprit for these collapses. Depending on the degree of partial expansion, it may happen sooner or later.

Collapses from partial expansion will occur when:
– weight of other bags on top of the bag in a bin put pressure on it
– vibration plus weight in bin during transportation
– handling at the retailer during shelf facing

BagPopper significantly improves the chances bags/pouches will StandUp & StayUp

Brand Quality Matters

A quality looking pouch or bag on a retailer’s display matters.
Shelf appearance makes a difference to customer’s perceptions and buying inclinations.

In regards to the Cannabis industry and packages used for selling flower, there are a few ways to significantly impact how the package looks and quality on-shelf appearance.
1) Fully expanded pleats
2) Labeling
3) Visibility of quality flower

BagPopper addresses “Fully expanded pleats.” That bottom part of the bag that when properly expanded provides two benefits; a nice cocoon to hold and display beautiful flower. A company will typically invest a great deal of resources; time, effort and money in growing, trimming and packaging flower. Only to have it become crushed, smushed (yes a technical term :), flattened in a collapsed bag. Which then disappoints the retailer and doesn’t impress a prospective customer to make a purchase.

How do most companies expand a stand up pouch pleat – with a hammer or screw driver handle. Both are not made for this purpose and worse, they don’t consistently provide a properly expanded pouch.

One of the other issues with bags/pouches not properly expanded or “partially” expanded is “collapses.” Collapsing of a bag/pouch pleat after expanding, filling and sealing occurs quite frequently for many processors. Depending on the degree of expansion or partial expansion, the bag may collapse at some point along the way in the supply chain, or before it even leaves the processors warehouse. Often times bag/pouch will collapse under the weight of other bags/pouches in a bin.

BudBot team ran into the pouch expanding issue at multiple processors and decided to design a solution – “BagPopper”

BagPopper is designed to quickly, easily and effectively expand a bag or standup pouch in order to fill it with flower.
